For the fourth year in a row, the growing Rogerson Reddan team headed back to Kilkea Castle for a weekend of R and R. Same format, new stories, and plenty of laughs along the way.
“Plus ça change…”
Friday morning started on the golf course, where the standout moment of the weekend was a genuine, bonafide hole‑in‑one. This was no doubt a moment that will go down in RR folklore and be recounted for many years to come. Elsewhere on the leaderboard, Brenden’s team fully leant into the competition and took the spoils on the day.
Cycling followed, with a solid turnout despite not everyone making the official start time. The stragglers still made a good effort to catch the main group, with Jimmy’s navigation playing a key role in attempting to guide everyone towards a planned pub stop - unfortunately said establishment was closed on arrival, but the Kilkea Castle Golf Club Bar was a worthy replacement.
The spa once again proved a popular option, offering a slower pace and a chance to properly switch off before the group regrouped later in the afternoon.
That afternoon featured an entertaining lookback on the February Steps Challenge by our arch-motivator, Katie McKenna. The is no motivation like a place on the leaderboard, evidenced by the dizzying step totals of podium finishers, Maeve, David F and Diarmuid.
A history talk from members of the local historical society led neatly into dinner, with the group well and truly ready for the evening ahead. A great evening followed, rounding off another thoroughly enjoyable Kilkea trip.
