RR Karting Championship 2025

Late January is often a month of dull skies and post-holiday blues, but the 2025 RR Go-Karting Championship at Kylemore Karting turned the monotony into a little bit of mayhem. Held on Kylemore Karting's Track 1, you would be forgiven in mistaking this race for a demolition derby given some of the driving on display.

Peter “The Iceman” Boylan took the wheel as organiser, ensuring everyone was ready for action. Once the engines roared to life, however, even Peter couldn’t avoid the chaos. Caio Chaves and Declan Lawlor were determined to keep the front-runners from pulling away. If there was an award for ‘Most Creative Use of a Go-Kart as a Projectile,’ Caio would have been the undisputed champion, while Declan’s kart seemed magnetically attracted to anything stationary.

Iceman Boylan deserves a special nod, not only for organizing the event but also for setting the fastest lap of the day. However, that achievement was bittersweet, as he clocked it while chasing the eventual winner of the final... guess who!

As the laps ticked by, it became clear that one driver had managed to rise above the madness. Conor Browne made it a “Three-Peat” and weaved through the wreckage to make it 3 consecutive 1st place finishes at the RR Karting Championship.

The podium was completed by the Iceman, whose lightning-quick laps earned him second place, and Brenden “Licence to Grill” Carstens, who navigated the chaos to finish respectably without turning the race into a full-contact sport.

Left to Right: Grillmaster Carstens (3rd place), Bump and Run Browne (1st), Iceman Boylan (2nd).

With the podium decided and the kart engines cooling, the Karting Krew retired to The Angler’s Rest to regale their colleagues with celebrations and a few tall tales.

As the dust settles on another championship, one thing is certain: whether it’s precision racing or total carnage, the RR team knows how to make a January day feel less “dry”!

Until next year, the crown stays firmly with Conor Browne – maybe we’ll return to Kylemore while he's on holidays in 2026?
